    Another Great Air Fryer

Posted by Pamela Reynolds DVM on Dec 5th 2024

I have had at least 4-5 air fryers in my time and they all offered something different. The Ninja - Foodi 6-in-1 FlexBasket with MegaZone offers a larger basket capacity. I’ve used it to air fry a Kroger’s flat bread and a Totino’s party pizza. Not at the same time. This long basket is the perfect size because it’s so long and rectangular. The dual zones allow you to combine the space or split the basket so you can cook two different things at the same time. Like lemon pepper wings on one side and Buffalo wings on the other. In addition to the bakery Capacity, this air fryer also has many functions. Like the obvious, air frying, but it can also bake, reheat, broil, roast and dehydrate. I haven’t used all the functions yet, but I’m looking forward to experimenting and seeing if I can make croutons with the dehydrate function. I have used the bake function to make small individual size cakes/dessert. The basket is easy to clean up. You can take out the two plates and divider bc and give it a quick clean. I haven’t run into any issues yet, so I do recommend this air fryer.

Finally, a large capacity, dual-zone air fryer!

Posted by Adam Morris on Nov 27th 2024

For so long, my major issue with standard commercial air fryers is their limited capacity. The machines are typically large but the actual reservoir for holding food is limited due to the amount of space needed to ensure sufficient distribution of hot air for even cooking- standard air fryers need to have space for the fan and also space below the food to make sure the heat fully immerses the food. Keep in mind that both air and gas are "fluids" so air fryers need to be able to mimic submersion in hot oil. That being said, this 7qt capacity Ninja air fryer is GREAT for being able to prepare food in a single step- for example, I can now prepare chicken wings for two people instead of having to make two batches. Preparing brussel sprouts for a small group of 5 people would normally require 2-3 batches to get good, crispy sprouts but this Ninja air fryer can do it all in one take! Other than capacity, the other major benefit of this fryer is that it's capable of dual-zone cooking. So, a single batch of two different foods cooking simultaneously at their own respective temperatures. It's super easy to operate so you just have to make sure that the small divider is in there. GOOD AND BAD: I really like how this system has very few components to clean - it's literally just the bottom perforated trays (they have small rubber feet on them, which makes them sit in the baskets snuggly and not rattle around), the divider, and the drawer basket. There are few components but that basket IS large, which should be taken into consideration. Overall, that large basket significantly outweighs the cumbersome nature of cleaning. I absolutely love this machine and Ninja really have been killing it with their high quality products for reasonable prices.

    Perfect for making different meals!

Recently replaced our old air fryer with this one and don’t regret it. The zone functions are great to have as a feature when I’m making different things that require different heat and time.

Smart Finish is worth the purchase on its own!!

Posted by Jessica Wang on Nov 21st 2024

I’m a big fan of Ninja products; I like their informative packaging which does a great job of pointing out their product’s features and benefits BEFORE you buy them, and I’ve always had great experiences with the Ninja line – both their kitchen products and their other household lines. (I have a Ninja vacuum that’s been going great for over ten years now!) I’m also a huge fan of the air fryer. I use mine at least 2-3 times a week, especially in the Summer when I don’t want to heat up my kitchen. These days I only really use my oven when I am making a pizza or when I’m cooking a big casserole or other dish that’s too large for my 6-quart air fryer. And even though the Ninja Foodi 6-in1 is only a mere quart more, it’s the form factor and flexibility that make all the difference. The rectangular “megazone” basket will allow me to cook foods like pork loins or whole chickens, something I’d never be able to do with my older air fryer. This on it’s own is a great upgrade, but the Foodi 6-in1 offers a even greater feature that I didn’t know I needed until I started using my air fryer more regularly. When I first started air frying, I was using it mainly for side dishes – things I would normally ‘fry’ in the oven like French fries and onion rings. After all, it’s an ‘air fryer’ right? You use it for ‘fried’ things. But as I learned more and got access to other recipes, I started realizing I cook just about anything in it and I stopped thinking of it as an ‘alternative’ to pan or deep frying and started thinking of it in it’s proper context of a convection oven – which is what it actually is - and this opened me up to cooking more dishes in it. However I now ran up against a different issue, namely that there were a lot of times where I would create a meal with both a main dish and a side dish, each of which would work great in the air fryer but I had to either cook them separately or decide on using the air fryer for one or the other since the items would either be cooked using different times, temperatures or in many cases both. The Ninja Foodi 6-in-1 solves that problem for me and does it rather intelligently. Because the megazone basket can be partitioned with each half having its own cooking times and controls, I no longer have to decide. Everything can go in the air fryer at once and be cooked properly! The REAL magic here though is the “Smart Finish” feature! This feature allows you to set up two dishes that have different times and temperatures and then starts the one with the longest time first and puts the other on ‘stand by’. Then when the first item’s remaining time matches the time on the second item

Speed of a microwave but so much tastier!

Posted by Christopher Ball on Nov 20th 2024

Ninja calls this air fryer but it really is a universal oven! It has Air Broil, Air Fry, Roast, Bake, Reheat and Dehydrate modes which makes it quite a useful tool in the kitchen. Cooking is done in a big basket located at the bottom of the appliance, basket has a removable divider and two removable grates at the bottom to allow for hot air circulation. Whole basket can be used as a single cooking "Megazone" or with divider installed each half can have it's own cooking regime set. It can even match cooking times to make sure both halves are done at the same time. Air fryer has pretty much no warm-up time and it's hot in a few seconds allowing for a quick warm up. With the divider removed whole basket can be used to bake a loaf of bread or a pound cake or to make a ton of fries for the whole company. Few things that I would like to note - loaded with food basket is quite heavy and removing it single hand is difficult, use both hands and a coaster to sit it on. When both zones are active - air fryer is switching heating elements back and forth not to exceed 15Amp load on the outlet. I do have 20 Amp circuit and it would be nice if Ninja allowed to utilize the whole 20 Amp. And of course - no matter if you used a single zone or a whole thing - you washing the whole basket. Divider and grates are dishwasher safe, basket is hand wash only.

    Very Happy

Very easy to use. Makes family meals much quicker. Doesn't heat up the rv like the stove does. Easy to clean as well.

    Very easy to use

Posted by Andrew Anderson on Nov 4th 2024

This fryer can do quite a few things but the controls are very intuitive and easy to use. The handful of items I've cooked have been very good, though I've only used the two compartments separately once. The Megazone works great.
