4 Could be better, but not bad at all.
Posted by Miranda Thomas on Oct 17th 2024
I'll preface this by stating that this is my first "automatic" mop, at least aside from my robot vacuum which is just a wet pad that goes over an set area. The closest thing I have to compare is a manual variation of a of a spray jet wet mop for quick spills. INITIAL SETUP: Straight forward and not complicated at all. Very easy to assemble and lightweight. Charging wasn't too long and I was up and going after I mixed the water and included cleaning solution. Ratio to dilute is right on the bottle unit. *Includes Solution, 1x Shark Hydro DUO, 1x preinstalled roll, and base that requires a charging spot* You can buy a second roll and rotate them. FIRST USE: I'm kind of mixed on this. While the HydroDuo is great for quick spills and clean up, it's not very good for embedded stains.. More of a quick cleaner than a dedicated flooring solution in my honest opinion. I think a manual mop or semi auto pad unit does better here. With that said, it does excels at fresh messes and quick cleaning from my week of using it. CONS: - The Shark unit itself scratches very easy along corners. It's not that big of a deal, but I was shocked to find out beat up it was after 1-2 uses along the sides of my walls and under my cupboards. - Doesn't do well with set in residue or stains via glossy tile flooring as I mentioned above. PROS: - Self propelling. Lightweight and easy to navigate and get into corners with ease. - Easy mix water/solution combo. They give a decent size starter bottle to dilute with water. - Perfect for small crumbs, pet hair, or coffee stains without much effort. - Charges quick, good for a kitchen or dining room. - Product is backed by a 3 yr warranty. OVERALL: I expected a little better, but it's not bad either.. Just wanted more oomph in the floor cleaning department. It does work well for what it's intended use is and anything better would obviously cost a bit more. The value is definitely there and a better quick clean solution than my previous competitor spray jet unit. Overall 4/5.

I love this thing so much! The floors are always clean now because I am obsessed with using the floor cleaner! With all of the traffic on our floors between mechanics, farming and pets, our floors were chronically filthy! But NO MORE! This was a surprisingly wonderful cleaning tool that inspires me to clean all the time because it’s now so easy and effective! Thank you for the cord-free life!

4 Mops, sweeps crumbs but scratches your floor
Posted by Tyler White on Sep 27th 2024
I've spent the last week or so using the Shark Hydro Duo to clean the floors in my apartment and I have mixed feelings about it. I really want to love it and use it as my main floor cleaning tool but I feel like it's better off as a "spot cleaner". There in lies the problem for me personally. This doesn't really clean up a mess any better than you can with a mop, paper towels or a rag. You can't really use this to sweep a whole kitchen or living room floor. And you also can't really use it to mop a whole kitchen floor. I mean I suppose you could.. but I ended up scratching up the floor in my apartment with this thing. I don't know If I am using it wrong, or you're not supposed to "pull" it back like you typically would with a vacuum and mop while cleaning. But every time I pull this thing back while spot cleaning, I hear a scratching sound. It' has a rubber "liner" or not sure what you want to call it.. but it's either that or this wheel that retracts / deploys itself when you lift it off the floor. Something under it makes a loud scratching sound almost every time when I pull it back to do another pass over the mess I am trying to clean up. Anyway... I'll share photos of what I am talking about, and the scratch it made. That being said.. it does a decent job at mopping a floor.. but like I said earlier. I don't really feel comfortable mopping a whole floor with this. When I used it to spray cleaning solution on a dusty floor, it just kinda turned it into a bigger mess and smeared it around a bit. The lint / dust stayed stuck on the floor for a bit. So you have to sweep before you use the cleaning solution with this to mop. It does fine picking up bigger things like cereal, food, crumbs and mud chunks, But seems to struggle picking up dust and lint. Therefore, it kind of creates redundancy in my opinion. Because I end up needing to use a broom or a mop to clean up the mess this thing couldn't clean. I like how lightweight this thing is, and that it can spray cleaning solution on the floor.. but it's hard for me to recommend this to my friends or anyone to use for cleaning a whole floor. Perhaps Shark can figure out a way to allow you to put a little elbow grease into it without scratching the floor, and this thing will work better. I typically get excited to try out cleaning tools, anything to help me get chores done more efficiently, but this isn't it.

5 Great wet/dry hard floor cleaner
Posted by Chad Morris on Sep 23rd 2024
Overall this is just another great product from Shark. We have gotten multiple shark products over the last 10 to 15 years but this is the first one that is a wet floor cleaner for hard floors. We have about 1,000 square feet of rubber vinyl plank flooring downstairs and this makes it much easier to clean. I was surprised when I took it out of the box how small it was but that's also nice because it takes up less room when you have to store it. It came with a very nice base to hold it and charge it while also offering a nice way to dry out the cleaning roller. Out of the box it was set up and charging within less than 5 minutes and after a few hours the battery was charged and ready to use. Pros - Self driven with powerful cleaning roller to grab anything in its path - Charging base and place to store the roller for it to dry between uses - Used the cleaning fluid sparingly with half a container left when the battery was drained Cons - Battery didn't last long enough to mop our entire downstairs but it is a larger than normal area - Small dirty water and debris storage area Overall this is a great option for those quick hard floor cleaning needs. It does a good job to pickup dry debris then hitting the floor with the solution to get that stuck on debris. It left our floors visible cleaner and so far we are very happy with it.

4 Good solution for a quick job, battery mediocre
Posted by Margaret Harris on Sep 18th 2024
Set up This cordless wet and dry hard floor cleaning system is lightweight and easy to use. It was easy to set up and even came with an instruction manual. I liked that I didn’t have to go online and download anything. Another helpful feature is that error message explanations are on top of the solution tank. Thus, you don’t have hunt for the manual should you encounter one. First Use My first use of the tool was on 4x4” tile. I first used the dry only cleaning on the floors to pick up hair and debris. Then I used the mop feature. While the floors glistened afterwards, the brush didn’t quite reach the grout lines. Overall, I thought it performed well and was convenient to use. Second Use My next use was on sealed hardwood floors. The dirt-reveal feature is eye opening. It definitely illuminates crumbs, dust, and pet hair. Even though we keep our house clean and vacuum often, the debris amount was surprising. Therefore, I decided to use dry only feature first. The tool picked up a lot of dirt. However, the battery drained quickly and I wasn’t able to complete this task. I put the cleaner into its docking station to recharge which took about 4 hours. Once fully charged, I wet mopped. I barely finished before the battery lost its charge. However, our floors looked amazing. Clean Up Shark made it easy to clean up after using the HydroDuo. It was easy to remove the nozzle cover, brush, and debris holder and then reassemble the pieces once they were dry. Overall It is easy to use. The Dirt Reveal Technology ensures you are reaching the right spots for a clean and shiny floor. I wish the battery lasted more than 30 minutes, but it is a really a good solution for a quick small job.

5 Never mopping the old way again…
Posted by Jonathan Buchanan on Sep 14th 2024
This Shark HydroDuo with Dirt Reveal Technology is a game changer for me! With my home being 80 percent hard flooring, a good mop is a must and this Shark HydroDuo is a welcome addition to my cleaning routine. (I will admit I have not come around to wanting a robot vacuum cleaner because I actually enjoy the act of vacuuming.) The Shark - HydroDuo with Dirt-Reveal Technology is easy to assemble and use, make sure to remove all of the sticker plastic and cardboard underneath the cleaner bottle reservoir. The charger base is nice and solid taking up very little space. Make sure to charge the cleaner fully prior to using for the first time. I was so surprised to be able to use the Shark to clean the entire house on a single charge. The light really does work to see where the dust and dirt is on the floor helping to get the best cleaning my floors have seen in years. The brush works perfectly to pickup dry dirt and mop the floor all at the same time. It’s like magic to see the wet and dry debris separated in the bottom of the vacuum. I love that if I have a small messy spill I can grab this and clean quickly and easily! Everything comes apart for cleaning very easily so you can extend the life of the device. This Shark - HydroDuo with Dirt-Reveal Technology works quite nicely for the applications I need around my home. I do enjoy using it to keep my floors nice and clean.

5 Perfect solution for small to midsize floors!
Posted by Patricia Barnett on Sep 5th 2024
As a parent of a 6-month-old baby girl who has just recently started crawling up a storm, is enjoying her infant-led weaning on soft foods, and likes lobbing globs of food like they are grenades, I have been desperate for a cleaning solution that keeps our kitchen and dining room (and my sanity) intact. The Shark HydroDuo has come in to save the day! It offers some of my favorite features of our Dyson V15 Detect Submarine Vacuum and Mop combo at nearly a 10th of the cost, all with the convenience of being a vacuum and mop in one and not having to switch out the attachments to fulfill either role. Unboxing and Setup: As usual with their cleaning implements, Shark has made the setup and use of this hydro duo an absolute breeze. They have handy instructions printed right on the box when you open it, but they also have a booklet included for more detailed instructions as well as clean up and maintenance of the device. I found I was able to set up the vacuum intuitively; there were so few parts needing to be attached out of the box, and none could be mixed up by my reckoning. Once I had the vacuum set up, I plugged in the charging and storage tray and placed the vacuum on there as the battery was completely drained from the factory and needed a complete top-up before use. This is probably best from a battery calibration standpoint. I also filled up the cleaning fluid tank and was pleasantly surprised to see that they included a bottle of concentrate that looks like it will last for at least six full tank clean-ups! More Shark Hydro brand cleaning fluid concentrate with a volume per the marketing that will last about 19 cleanups is available for around 19 dollars or so online from various sources. First-time use: One of the best parts of this Shark HydroDuo versus the Dyson Detect vacuum model is that the dirt reveal light works for both vacuuming AND mopping. My wife and I have stated aloud to each other that we wish we had a better way of seeing the stubborn stains and grit on the kitchen and dining room floor while mopping the same way our detect V15 shows dirt with its fluffy head cleaner. Well, Shark has done that for you here! Putting this to advantage, I first diligently vacuumed up as much dry material as I could see without using the sprayer. Shark advises that you first vacuum up dry debris as much as possible before using the sprayer for best performance. Logically, that just makes sense, and I followed that recommendation to the best of my ability. The vacuum and mop overall did excellent for us. The vacuum was able to vacuum up all the pesky debris and detritus that builds up in our busy daily workweek lives, even (for the most part) my wife’s 3-foot-long curly hairs that she sheds like a husky! The mop with the handy included quick dry fluid to mix into the tank was excellent at getting even some of the more petrified food stains and kitchen messes cleaned up and it generally did really well performing a fairly in depth clean of the floor. When the wet is added into the equation with this mop, though, the drawbacks of the roller system manifest: what was left of my wife’s long hairs got gummed up and wrapped around the roller, and there were definitely a few clumps that ended up just being pushed around and had to be picked up by hand. Admittedly, long human hair is a major challenge for all but the most expensive cleaning appliances, so I do not consider this a major demerit against the Shark HydroDuo. Cleaning up the Shark was intuitive and easy. The dry bin gets dumped in the trash, the dirty water bin gets rinsed and put out to dry, the roller gets cleaned off and placed upright on the storage/charging station in its handy, specially designed drying spot. It was cleaning the roller that made us realize just how severe the spin up of long hairs was, but we weren’t too flustered about it. All in all, I think this Shark Hydro Duo, for its intended price and use cases, gets a solid 5 out of 5. This is the perfect solution for small to mid-size dwellings with sealed hardwood, tile, and linoleum-type flooring that needs good maintenance of both vacuuming and cursory mopping. I just wouldn’t quite throw away your traditional mop, bucket, and broom if you are a person who likes a super deep clean and feels the need to do it the manual way once in a while for a true deep clean. Thanks for reading and hope this interview helps you out!

4 Good but could be better!
Posted by Katherine Lee on Sep 3rd 2024
The Shark - HydroDuo with Dirt-Reveal Technology, Cordless wet & dry hard floor cleaner does a good job of cleaning hard surfaced floors. In my case I have a hardwood floor and I started out by just trying it as a vacuum. It did okay but it is of course not as powerful as a corded vacuum and it is not as powerful as my other cordless vacuum either. However, my other cordless vacuum can not clean the floor by spraying a cleaning solution on it and clean it with a spinning mop brush either. I ended up vacuuming with my other cordless vacuum because I want to only use the Shark-HydroDuo as a cordless powered mop and I do not want to get a bunch of debris on the roller and get it real dirty. This machine is good for the final phase of cleaning your floor and it makes cleaning your hard floor much easier than a mop because it does a lot of the work for you. I would not use it as a machine to skip sweeping or vacuuming first personally unless you have a small area that you do often. The Shark HydroDuo does not have two batteries nor does it have a way to swap batteries out which I think was a mistake by Shark to have an integrated non-removable battery. That obviously limits the square footage you can clean in one session. I was able to do a pretty large area with it probably between 300-350 square feet but I went over it very thoroughly going forward and back. While I was using it I noticed a couple of things. One it sprays out a lot of liquid and I feel like it could either spray a little wider or further out or have a little finer spray. I spent a lot of time spreading out what I had sprayed so it was not pooling. The second thing I noticed was that it hits bumps or the edges of uneven floors pretty easily. While it does go over them I felt like the housing should have a little more ground clearance. The last thing I noticed is that it could use a little more power. I think it needs to be at least a 12 volt not a 9.6 volt. And it needs swappable batteries so you won,t run out of battery before you finish. In the end though when I was finished it did a great job of cleaning the floor but the reservoir that holds the used water filled up before the spray tank ran out and started over flowing on to the floor. I had to stop and empty it the resume cleaning. The idea of it vacuuming while it mops is a great idea that gets the floor really clean. It could just use some improvements in the areas I mentioned previously. I will definitely keep using it and I am excited to get to know it better so I can plan out my sessions with it cleaning one section at a time. Our entire house is hardwood floors so it will take probably three sessions to do it all. Thats okay though because I do not want to it all at once anyway. The Shark Hydro-Duo is like a better version of the Swiffer wet jet and it definitely gets the floor cleaner.
