5 Great washer from Whirlpool EXCEPT the lid lock.
Posted by Mary Young on Oct 14th 2024
Purchased because of brand recognition. Whirlpool made a nice washer with this model. My/Our only complaint is the stupid lid lock latch. Who decided on this? Are people really that stupid? or, absent minded to not supervise children to keep them from climbing into the washer? I will NEVER purchase another washer or any item with a lid lock again. Period. Every other thing with this washer is exactly what we could want. EXCEPT the lid lock. No it is not a simple un-plug of the lock.

4 Happy with washer
Posted by Kristen Grimes on Oct 14th 2024
The washer is a bit load at the beginning of cycles. The tub is very large and depending on the cycle automatically triggers the deep water setting. Clothes come out clean. Overall it’s a good washer for the price.

Works well and I am able to stop and reload with no issues. My mother is not the best with the newest technology and she is very pleased with the ease of use of this washer.

4 I didn't realize it was THAT loud
Posted by Roger West on Sep 21st 2024
Other reviewers stated this was a loud machine, but I didn't think it was THAT loud! It sounds like our old one did when the bearings were needing replacement or when it was unbalanced. The controls aren't as sensitive as we're used to either, but we wanted a center agitator, a large capacity, and simple controls with options. Not having a center agitator left our sheets and other clothes all twisted up. We haven't had this long enough to know how well it lasts but have had good results with Whirlpool machines. Other than the noise when it runs, we're hoping it proves to be a good, long-lasting replacement on the old machine.

1 Disappointment
Posted by Craig Adams on Sep 16th 2024
Extremely noisy machine. The water fill valve sounds like a jet airplane. Surely there are water fill valves that will operate silently. The beginning spin cycle has a metallic grinding noise. The machine lacks adequate userr selectable water level options. The standard water level is inadequate to even cover the clothes and the deep water selection adds nearly a full tub, considerably more water than is needed. There is no owner's manual provided with the machine nor anything on-line. Even a new ceiling fan comes with an owner's manual. This is the 4th Whirlpool washer I have owned since 1976 and the performance and quality of the previous machines was a prime factor in my selection of Whirlpool. With the noises coming from this machine I seriously doubt that it will last the average 15 years of the previous machines. And I doubt I would ever purchase another Whirlpool washer. The sloped top on these machines is a STUPID idea. I poured the fabric softener into the measuring cup and sat the bottle down on the dryer to lift the lid on the washer to pour the softener and the softener bottle slid off the dryer and spilled on the floor. Whoever approved this sloped top design obviously never actually washed clothes. Form over Function, akin to putting the brake pedal on a car on the passenger side because it looks better with one pedal on each side. Sadly, after using the machine for nearly a month I cannot find one thing I like better than my previous top-load Whirlpool machine.

3 Great machine…awful noise!
Posted by Ms. Jill Mitchell on Sep 16th 2024
I’m not really sure if I’m going to keep it. It cleans well and the clothes smell fresh…a big plus. However, I have sensitive hearing. My old Whirlpool only sounded like standing inside a jet engine when it did its spinning. This new one is only decently not loud when it’s spinning. Except for the spinning lower noise level, the other noise seems to go on forever. I live in a condo. I can’t really escape. I used to sit in the closet when I knew my other one would spin or take my showers then. This one just goes on. So, so loud. I really don’t want my hearing affected. It’s so, so irritating…might need leveling, too. The pipes on the water connection even shake. Guys are coming after I make an appt. I have to wait 24 hrs. before that’s possible. That’s scary! I wish I had a basement or a garage..but the clothes smell so fresh! Help!!! What a decision!

4 Whirlpool Washing Machine
Posted by Kyle Munoz on Sep 5th 2024
The Whirlpool is a great washer for the price. Clothes come out clean and it gets out dirty stains! Only issue I have is it can be a bit loud at times when locking the top and when on rinse cycle.
