Leaks and doesn't handle large loads

Posted by Nicholas Young on Dec 9th 2024

I purchased this machine in August 2019. 1.) The machine was leaking small amounts under the bottom of the machine. Unfortunately, it was small enough that we didn't notice until the leak got bigger and started coming out the side. Under Warranty, Whirlpool replaced the detergent tray (according to the repairman, they replace a lot of these). 2 Weeks later the leak is back. I notice wetness under the machine and in the extra detergent bin and drips coming from around the seal. 2.) I bought the bigger machine specifically to handle larger loads. But it doesn't handle one blanket. It constantly stops in the cycle and leaks a lot worse when I wash heavier loads like towels. 3.) The buttons on the front of the machine don't always respond to being pressed. I have to press them over and over or wait and come back to get the machine to turn on or start. 4.) Best Buy told me that it came with a warranty of 2-years. Whirlpol says it only 1. And despite the fact that I couldn't get ahold of them for months due to Covid-19 shutdowns. They are not extending it. I regret buying this machine.

    New Whirlpool Washer

Posted by Raymond Mendoza on Nov 28th 2024

So far my new Whirlpool washer is working fine. I haven't had a new one for 16 years, so I am slowly adjusting to the more techie version. It seems like the wash time determined by the washer after sensing the load is long, but it may not be the final actual time, especially if I have a load of 12 small items - 1 hour? I haven't tried the steam setting yet. I did use the clean cycle which is new to me...but makes sense. So far the washer does a good job cleaning my clothes. I just wish the instruction manual had more information about the washer and its many cycles. I did look online and found some information and contacted Whirlpool. The company was very quick to respond with good information. My purchase date was May 2020 but I didn't receive the washer until August 2020. I assume COVID-19 had a lot to do with that. I was just thankful the old washer was working until the new one was delivered.

Fantastic unit. Quiet, efficient. Never had an issue with clothes not being properly cleaned. Bigger is better!

Great Deal on a nice washer.

Posted by David Green on Nov 10th 2024

The Salesman was very helpful, and we got a great deal on a floor model washer. We especially appreciate the 5.0 Cubic Foot, as this is larger than we were expecting to buy. The WhirlPool does have one strange feature, where you have to hold the Start button while it counts down for three seconds before it will start...

    great washer

Posted by Nancy Hall on Nov 7th 2024

We really like the washer. We bought the pedestal too and we’re disappointed with that. We put two bottles of tide in the bottom. Smaller size only. And the drawer can’t handle the weight. For the money you should be able to put things in the drawer. Washer I would recommend not the pedestal.

    Huge washer. HUGE!

Posted by Amy Shelton on Nov 2nd 2024

It’s big. Large enough that loads I used to have to split now fit with room to spare. Seems to do an excellent job of washing and the time is accurate (my older front-loaders used to stall on 1 minute remaining for about the last 10 minutes of the cycle.) I love the multitude of washing options and the fact that my house no longer feels like an earthquake is happening when it enters spin cycle. Could it be quieter? Perhaps. But a great washer for the value.
